Suspected conman who allegedly defrauded elderly victims found hiding in shed

A suspected conman wanted after elderly victims were tricked out of thousands of pounds has been found hiding in a shed. Police mounted a major search to locate the suspect from Oldham, including using covert tactics.

Now GMP officers have successfully located a male wanted on a suspicion of several offences of fraud by false representation. GMP say the the suspect's method was to directly target elderly and vulnerable people by means of doorstep fraud, scamming people out of money in exchange to do work to their home which never was completed.

It is believed that a total of approximately £5000 has been fraudulently taken from multiple victims across the Oldham district. Police in Oldham were able to locate and arrest the suspect in the early hours of today (Saturday) after he was found hiding in a shed in Shaw. The 39-year-old man will remain in police custody while further enquiries are conducted.
