Woman treated for injuries after car ploughs into tree in Stockport

A woman was treated for minor injuries after her car ploughed into a tree in Stockport.

Broadstone Road in Heaton Chapel was closed in both directions following the smash on Thursday morning.

The fire service were called to the scene shortly after 10.30 to reports of a one-vehicle collision.

Two fire engines attended the scene for 45 minutes nd supported the police in making the road safe.

The driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene and did not need further hospital treatment.

The road has since reopened.

A Greater Manchester police spokesperson said: "Officers attended a one-vehicle road traffic collision at around 10:30am on Broadstone Road, Heaton Chapel, Stockport on 10 February 2022.

"A woman was treated for minor injuries at the scene."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at just after 10.30am to reports of a road traffic collision in Broadstone Road, Heaton Chapel, Stockport.

"Two fire engines from Whitehill and Stockport fire stations attended the scene.

"The incident involved a car and a tree.

"There was nobody trapped and the driver appeared to have left the scene.

"We supported police in making the vehicle and the roadway safe.

"Firefighters departed the scene about 45 minutes later."
