Woman seen doing YOGA in middle of A555 near Manchester Airport shut due to severe flooding
A woman was seen doing YOGA in the middle of the A555 near Manchester Airport, which is still shut due to severe flooding on New Year's Day.
The typically busy Manchester Airport relief road remained under water on Thursday morning (January 2), and was likened to a 'lake', with vehicles still trapped and submerged under flood waters.
The road was completely closed off on New Year's Day after it became flooded following a night of heavy rainfall. Images from the scene showed cars completely submerged on the airport relief road between Hazel Grove and the airport, near Cheadle.
Pictures taken by a walker shortly after midday on Thursday afternoon, with the road still closed off, showed a woman doing yoga in the middle of the carriageway.

"I went out for a walk with my daughter and we thought we would take a look at the 'lake' under the bridge on the A555. We saw a coloured blob moving on the carriageway and at first, we thought it was a large bird.
"When we got closer, we could see it was a lady practising yoga, and definitely an expert. I thought... good for her. It will be something to tell her kids in the future."
It’s believed five vehicles have been stranded under the A555 bridge, with just the roofs visible above the water. Police were also called out to rescue people from a car in the early hours of New Year's Day.
The A555 road in Greater Manchester runs along its southern border with Cheshire. It is officially known as the Manchester Airport Eastern Link and runs between Manchester Airport and the A6 south of Hazel Grove in Stockport.
