Woman ‘loved and cherished by all her family’ died from ‘catastrophic’ injuries after being hit by a motorbike on her lunch break

A woman who was hit by a stolen motorbike that mounted the pavement she was walking on died after suffering ‘catastrophic’ injuries, an inquest has heard.

Rebecca Cooke had been taking a lunchtime walk near her home on Court Hey Road in Huyton on March 1, 2021 when she was struck, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The Echo previously reported that Daniel King was seen speeding before turning a corner and swerving onto the pavement to avoid an oncoming police car.

Ms Cooke suffered life threatening injuries and was rushed to Aintree hospital before being transferred to Walton. Sadly she was found to have "catastrophic brain injuries" and died on March 3, 2021.

The hearing heard how her injuries were "unsurvivable" after being hit by the bike and "thrown into a brick wall". An initial post mortem examination gave a cause of death as severe head injuries.

Senior coroner Julie Goulding heard some of the sentencing remarks from King's court case where it was heard Ms Cooke had been "looking forward to buying her first house with her boyfriend" and had been "looking forward to a bright future". Mum Margaret spoke of her
