Woman gobsmacked after getting £45,000 bill for a QUICHE at her local cafe

A pensioner said she 'nearly crashed her car' in shock after being billed £45,000 for a quiche.

77-year-old Bobbie-Jo and Gillian Scott, 73, were enjoying lunch out with friends at their usual food haunt.

The pair were at The Little Bakery in Cullompton, Devon when the afternoon turned into a 'stressful, yet amusing' event, reports Hull Live.

Gillian ordered a quiche with a side of chips, while Bobbie-Jo opted for a pie. They also ordered a cake and coffee and - paying for the whole group - the outing should have cost £45 in total.

Bobbie-Jo said: “Initially, Gillian’s card was declined, but Mandy, who was working here that day, told us to sit down while she sorted it. It happened twice before Fiona, who also works here, discovered that there was a few additional noughts on the end of the cost, and that she was being charged £45,000.

“It came as a bit of a shock to us all. I nearly crashed my car on the way home through the shock of it all.”

Gillian added: “I was a bit scared at first that I would have a debt of £45,000 for a quiche. When I got home, we almost had to phone an ambulance because of it.

“Thankfully, Bobbie-Jo phoned the bank, who had declined the card because they were worried about it being potential fraud, and it has all be resolved now. She's only got £400 in her account."

Bobbie-Jo said they would now tell the ‘whole town’ about the amusing story, reports Devon Live.
