Aston Villa learn price to complete transfer for Liverpool hero Jurgen Klopp loved

Aston Villa continue to be linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

Wijnaldum could leave the French capital in the summer with the 31 year-old finding game-time hard to come by in Mauricio Pochettino's star-studded PSG team.

Having joined on a three-year contract in the summer after leaving Liverpool on a free transfer, Wijnaldum will be on big money in Paris and that could put any team off moving for the player.

Villa have been credited with an interest in Wijnaldum while other clubs are reportedly keen, too.

French media outlet Jeunes Footeux report that the former Anfield star, who won the Champions League and Premier League during his time with Jurgen Klopp's side, will be available for around £21 million.

Wijnaldum has started only 13 League games for PSG this season and was on the substitute's bench for the 1-0 defeat of Real Madrid in the knockout stages of the Champions League last month.

Earlier this season he spoke about his frustrations at a lack of game-time with PSG.

"I have played a lot in recent years, I was always fit and also did very well," he told the Dutch media.

"This is something different and that takes getting used to. I was really looking forward to the new step and then this happens. It is very difficult."

Villa could move for a midfielder of Wijnaldum's profile but his age, he turns 32 in November, is a factor.

Plus a potential transfer for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma this summer while Douglas Luiz could depart Villa at the end of the season.

Wijnaldum is a quality player with big-game experience and a trophy-laden career from his time at Liverpool and a player with that sort of mentality may appeal to Villa boss Steven Gerrard.
