Woman fighting for her life after horror crash

A woman is fighting for her life after being struck by a vehicle near Bolton. Greater Manchester Police says it was called out to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Norris Street, in Farnworth, at 4.30pm yesterday (June 11).

The pedestrian, a 43-year-old woman, was taken to hospital for further treatment. Her injuries are believed to be life threatening, GMP says.

The street was closed off at the junction with Albert Road for a number of hours yesterday following the incident, with an area taped off. The road has since reopened.

GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. The force also wants to speak to anyone who may have any dashcam, CCTV or phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 4741, quoting reference number 2438 of June 11, 2024, or report it online using LiveChat. Alternatively, details can be shared to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
