"Wolves want.." - Tim Spiers drops Molineux claim that'll leave supporters buzzing - opinion

Wolverhampton Wanderers have submitted an offer to a potentially game-changing player next season.

In what is an internal move, that offer is for Morgan Gibbs-White in the form of a new contract that will hopefully seal his fate as a Wolves regular next season, amidst interest from new Serie A Champions, AC Milan.

As per a report from The Athletic’s Tim Spiers, the Molineux side want to reward the 22-year-old for his excellent season with Sheffield United, with boss Bruno Lage said to believe he can make an impact in the Premier League.

Though, the same report states that the player may need convincing that a return to Wolves is the right move, after enjoying a successful pre-season with Wolves only to be sent out on loan again just last year.

Taking to Twitter, the Wolves reporter commented: “Wolves want Morgan Gibbs-White to play a big role next season and are believed to have offered him a new contract to help convince him to stay. Decision now rests with the player.”

Lage’s intent to keep Gibbs-White is promising for the club and its supporters, who are looking at the potential of a summer rebuild square in the face.

The Staffordshire-born starlet finished the campaign with 12 goals and ten assists in 37 Championship games for Sheffield United, helping them to the Championship lay-off semi-final and lighting up England’s second-tier in the process.

His form has not gone unnoticed and, quite frankly, cannot be ignored. Especially when you compare his impact in the Championship to Lage’s squad.

Gibbs-White’s 12 goals would place him above Jimenez as top scorer – doubling the Mexican’s goal tally of six – whilst the 22-year-old would also rank as the Old Gold’s top assister at the club, with his ten assists again
