Wolves player ratings vs Tottenham: Raul Jimenez and Leander Dendoncker seal huge win

Wolverhampton Wanderers leapfrogged Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League table to reignite their top-six push.

Raul Jimenez and Leander Dendoncker found the net in the capital to seal a 2-0 win and inflict back-to-back home defeats on Antonio Conte’s team.

Wolves recovered from Thursday’s defeat to Arsenal to record a fifth win from seven league matches, putting them just three points behind fourth-placed West Ham with a game-in-hand.

Wolves aren’t known for their fast starts, but Bruno Lage’s team stunned north London to silence by racing into a two-goal lead inside 18 minutes.

Jimenez opened the scoring with a superb volley after Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris failed to deal with punts from Ruben Neves and Dendoncker.

The Mexican controlled the ball in an instant before lashing past Lloris to net his first goal from open play in almost three months.

Jimenez’s opener in the sixth minute at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the earliest goal Wolves have scored in a game this season.

Spurs couldn’t contain Wolves’ press and soon gifted the visitors the chance to double their lead.

Lloris played Ben Davies into trouble and the defender failed to clear his lines under pressure from Nelson Semedo. Dendoncker intercepted Davies’ clearance and the ball was worked to Daniel Podence inside Spurs’ penalty area.

Podence’s shot was deflected onto the post but Dendoncker was rushing in to bundle the ball home.

Jimenez attempted another spectacular volley from range midway through the first half which Lloris managed to deal with.

The Spurs goalkeeper later denied Podence after wonderful play by Semedo to set his compatriot up.

Wolves produced a near-perfect first half performance and deservedly led 2-0 at the break.
