Journalist now drops big Raul Jimenez claim at Wolves after Lage axed him at the weekend

Wolves striker Raul Jimenez is bound to enjoy a goalscoring run at some point in the season, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Mexican frontman has struggled in front of goal this term and has only scored five times in the Premier League.

While Wolves are going great guns and firmly in the conversation to qualify for Europe, it’s generally been a struggle for Jimenez.

In his two previous full campaigns at Premier League level, he scored 13 and 17 goals respectively, but Jimenez is in danger of failing to reach double figures this time around.

He can be forgiven for needing extra time to find his feet after the sickening head injury he sustained against Arsenal last season, which threatened to end his career and cause him serious damage.

But Jimenez, who cost Wolves £30m back in 2019, has scored just five goals in the top-flight, with only two coming in his last three months of action.

As a result, he was dropped for the recent defeat at West Ham, only coming on with 81 minutes on the clock, although he wasn’t able to rescue a result for Wolves.

Regardless, Jones is confident that Jimenez will eventually come good for Bruno Lage, and when he does, it’ll improve their chances of fighting for Europe.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Jimenez hasn’t really had a goal run either. At some point, he’ll have a run, and that will help them make a challenge for those top-six places.”
