Wolves 'open' to Matheus Nunes deal on certain terms and more Man City transfer rumours

Wolverhampton Wanderers would be open to selling Matheus Nunes this week but want two Manchester City players to come the other way, according to reports.

City have set their sights on Nunes to become the fourth major arrival of the summer, following Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol and Jeremy Doku. Pep Guardiola's side made an official approach last week but saw their £47million bid rejected by Wolves.

Wolves are holding out for around £60m, citing a lack of time to find replacements as the reason for their demands. However their stance was weakened this week, with the Portuguese midfielder refusing to train in a bid to force a move - he was not involved in Tuesday's Carabao Cup clash against Blackpool.

As such, Gary O'Neil's side have become more open to discussions and 90min reports they would be open to a player-plus-cash deal. The Midlands side are said to be keen on James McAtee and Tommy Doyle, although City do not want to let the former leave on a permanent basis.

McAtee could leave on loan, however, and The Telegraph reports that Ajax are among several clubs looking to secure his services for the season. The 20-year-old enjoyed an excellent campaign with Sheffield United last term, registering nine goals and three assists in 37 in the Championship.

The report suggests that Guardiola would like to keep McAtee in Manchester for the 2023/2024 campaign but also understands the need for regular football, particularly after the experience gained at Bramall Lane. Ajax are looking for someone to fill the boots of Mohammed Kudus, who joined West Ham United in a £38million deal on Monday.
