Wolves next six fixtures compared to Tottenham, Man Utd & West Ham ahead of run-in

Wolverhampton Wanderers need a strong end to the season in order to realise their dream of returning to Europe in 2022/23.

Wolves are now eighth in the Premier League, tailing West Ham, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. Fourth-placed Arsenal seem to be out of touch for Wolves now, but Bruno Lage's team can still secure a top six finish. The defeat to Leeds United before the international break means Wolves have little room for error from here on.

The top three of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea seem to be out of reach, but the race behind them for the final Champions League spot (4th), two Europa League places (5th and 6th) and Europa Conference League football (7th) is incredibly tight. With that in mind, we've taken a look at the fixtures of the five teams in contention for the four remaining European places.

Wolves put themselves back in contention with two wins over relegation battlers Watford and Everton, but a gut-wrenching 3-2 defeat to Leeds before the international break means Lage's team have work to do.

Aston Villa and Newcastle - who are one of the form teams in the league under Eddie Howe - are dangerous opponents, but Wolves have beaten both of them already this season. Wolves will go into both matches without key duo Ruben Neves and Raul Jimenez though.

Maximum points will be needed from Burnley, Brighton and Norwich, while Wolves will probably need something from their trip to Stamford Bridge on May 7 too. In the last five seasons, the average points needed to finish sixth has been 64. To reach 64 points in 2021/22, Wolves require 18 more from their remaining eight matches.
