Wolves latest news: Lage's recruitment policy will please Fosun

Journalist Ryan Taylor believes Wolves boss Bruno Lage prefers to improve players within his own squad rather than “throwing money” at new signings.

The Midlands club had a quiet January transfer window, and Taylor has hinted that Lage was perfectly happy with how the month panned out.

Wolves failed to make a single signing in January as Lage opted to stick with his current set of players.

However, it was confirmed that they will be turning Hee-chan Hwang’s loan move into a permanent one at the end of the season, with the club set to pay RB Leipzig £11.9m for his services.

Their lack of incomings did not negatively affect results on the pitch. Wolves won all three of their Premier League matches in the month to close in on the European places.

Taylor thinks that Lage is focused on getting the best out of the squad that he has at his disposal; hence why he chose not to spend money on mid-season signings who may take time to adjust to his methods.

His decision is likely to have pleased the club’s owners, Fosun, who did not have to waste a single penny in the January market.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT about Lage’s transfer policy at Wolves, Taylor said: “He really feels like he can continue developing players on the training pitch as opposed to just throwing money at stuff.”

The squad does look a little threadbare in a couple of areas heading into the second half of the campaign.

Wolves have one of the best defensive records in the division, but an injury to Conor Coady or Max Kilman could leave them short at the back, so there is an argument that the club may have benefited from bringing in another centre-half as cover.

They are also only one or two
