Wolves: Lage could make 'quite a few new signings' at Molineux

Wolverhampton Wanderers could go under a bit of a ‘transition’ this summer as manager Bruno Lage looks to build on an indifferent first season at the helm, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Lage’s reign got off to a promising start after he succeeded compatriot Nuno Espirito Santo before a poor run of form in the final three months of 2021/22 left many questions to be answered.

Wolves were within touching distance of fourth place at the end of February following a run of just four defeats in their previous 18 Premier League encounters.

However, three consecutive losses sparked a dramatic downturn in results and performances for the Midlands outfit that saw them win just three of their final 14 top-flight fixtures.

A 10th-placed finish was Wolves’ reward for a chaotic maiden campaign under Lage, and the Portuguese tactician may oversee a substantial rebuild over the coming months.

Starting centre-back Romain Saiss has already confirmed he will depart the club as a free agent, while key midfielders Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho could also follow him out of the exit door.

Meanwhile, talkSPORT have claimed that Raul Jimenez will be made available for transfer, and winger Adama Traore is also expected to see pastures new.

Taylor told GiveMeSport: “I see a bit of transition, to be honest, happening at Wolves this summer. The way they finished the season wasn’t really good at all.

“They still finished 10th, which at the start of the season, given this is the first one without Nuno, they probably would have snapped your hand off for that.
