Wolves: Lage could make 'another Diego Costa-type signing' at Molineux

Wolverhampton Wanderers may now move for another free agent to add to the arrival of Diego Costa, after Nathan Collins saw red against Manchester City on Saturday, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Bruno Lage’s side were comfortably beaten 3-0 by the reigning Premier League champions and a moment of madness from their summer recruit made the day even worse.

Following their win against Southampton, hopes will have been high among supporters at Molineux that they would be able to pose a challenge to Pep Guardiola’s side.

But any chance of that happening had vanished before half-time. First, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland fired City into a commanding 2-0 lead before Collins’ horror challenge.

As Grealish received a pass on the left wing, the former Burnley man came charging in with a high challenge to the England attacker’s midriff, earning him a first-half red card.

Phil Foden rounded off the scoring in the second half in what was a day to forget for Lage’s side as new signing Costa watched on.

The Wolves manager admitted after full time that the former Chelsea ace was still some time away from being fit enough to play, after leaving Atletico Mineiro in January.

But there is every chance he may not be the last free agent the club move for.

Jones understands that the West Midlands outfit may now look to the free agent market once again after Collins’ red card.

The 21-year-old has been a regular alongside Max Kilman since making his move from Burnley for £21 million but will now be sidelined for three matches.

After being asked about the red card, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s definitely a headache for them and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them make another Diego Costa type signing now.”
