Bruno Lage has no complaints over Nathan Collins' red card against Manchester City

Wolves manager Bruno Lage had no complaints about Nathan Collins' straight red card against Manchester City.

The Republic of Ireland defender, who will link up with Stephen Kenny's squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Scotland and Armenia, was sent off in the first half of Wolves' 3-0 Premier League defeat at Molineux after a high challenge on Jack Grealish, leaving the home side to play with 10 men for an hour.

After the match, Lage admitted he expected the 21-year-old to be punished after seeing the challenge.

"I don't believe Collins wanted to do that but when you see that you have to admit it can be yellow or red," he told BT Sport.

Wolves were 2-0 down at the time Collins was sent off but conceded just one more goal thereafter and Lage praised his team for their resilience in the second half.

"I don't believe there are too many teams in the world that can do what we did against this top team with 10 men," he said.

"The players were brave and confident. They made some mistakes but there were periods we were very good."

However, scoring is proving a problem for Wolves, who have netted just three times in seven games.

Forwards Sasa Kalajdzic and Raul Jimenez are both out injured while new signing Diego Costa was not deemed match-fit.

"When you don't score goals it is a worry and that is why we have these three strikers. Unfortunately nobody is available to play," said Lage.

"Even Manchester City and a manager like Pep Guardiola understand you need a reference in the box to score goals, especially in the Premier League."

Meanwhile, Grealish thanked Pep Guardiola for backing him after scoring the opening goal inside the first minute.
