Wolves: Fosun 'will be worried' over key failure at Molineux

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Bruno Lage has to show that he is more ‘tactically adaptable’ and able to change matches mid-game or risk losing his job, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Molineux outfit head into the international break hovering precariously above the Premier League relegation zone after a slow start to the season.

With seven matches played in the top flight this season, Lage’s side sit in 17th place, two points ahead of West Ham and Nottingham Forest below them.

To make matters worse, the likes of Crystal Palace and Leeds United also boast a game in hand on Wolves following a further batch of postponements last weekend.

They have found the back of the net just three times all season, the joint-lowest tally in the league alongside West Ham, while Southampton are the only side they have managed to get the better of.  

Having splashed over £120 million on new signings during the summer transfer window, owners Fosun International and chairman Jeff Shi will likely not be pleased with their start.

Lage now has clashes with the Hammers, Forest and Leicester City on the horizon. Failure to claim wins from any of these games is likely to only ramp up the pressure further.

Jones believes that Lage has to show he can affect matches from the touchline and alter the course of a game.

The journalist adds that if he does not change things quickly, Shi could soon have a big decision to make in the West Midlands.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I think Lage has to show that he is more tactically adaptable and can manage in-game to change the course of a game. It’s been pretty worrying how he has failed to change matches by implementing changes and it will not be too long before the owners have a decision to make.”
