Wolves dealt major injury blow against Arsenal as West Ham clash looms

Nelson Semedo pulled up with an injury in the second half of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ clash with Arsenal on Thursday night.

The right wing-back went down just before the hour mark at The Emirates after a sprint back towards his own goal.

Semedo was treated on the field for a few minutes and appeared to gesture towards Wolves’ medical staff with a tearing motion. Semedo’s right leg seemed to be the area of concern.

Bruno Lage introduced Jonny Castro Otto to replace Semedo at wing-back for the final 30 minutes against Arsenal.

Jonny has spent a long stint on the sidelines since suffering a serious knee injury last April, just two months after returning from the exact same problem.

The Spaniard returned to full training at the beginning of the year and returned to Wolves' squad at the start of the month.

Lage will be hoping Semedo’s injury isn’t serious with the former Benfica and Barcelona defender enjoying the best spell of his Wolves career.

Wolves have another crucial match with West Ham coming up on Sunday, before a run of games in March against Crystal Palace, Watford, Everton and Leeds United before the international break.
