Wolves could be without five key players for Aston Villa clash
Wolverhampton Wanderers return to Premier League action with a West Midlands derby against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Wolves will be hoping to complete a double over their Midlands rivals when Steven Gerrard's side head to Molineux. Both teams have had players away on international duty, with Lage and Gerrard keeping their fingers crossed that no one returns with any new injury worries.
The game represents a chance for Bruno Lage's men to get back to winning ways after a 3-2 collapse to Leeds United last time out. Wolves lost influential midfielder Ruben Neves to injury during that match, while Raul Jimenez will begin a two-game suspension after receiving his second red card of the season following two cautions against Leeds.
The Portuguese playmaker suffered a knee injury against Leeds last week, which meant he had to be replaced by Francisco Trincao in the 25th minute. Neves has since travelled to Portugal with members of the medical team to see a knee specialist and is expected to be side-lined until May.
Neves is now likely to miss Wolves’ next four fixtures against Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Burnley and Brighton. The match with Manchester City, originally scheduled for April 17, has been postponed due to their involvement in the FA Cup. Wolves will be hoping the Molineux match up with City comes once Neves has returned from injury.
