Wolves: 60-cap star wants 'lengthy contract' to stay at Molineux

Wolves defender Romain Saiss may want to be offered a lengthy contract to stay at the club beyond this summer, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Saiss has spent the last six seasons at Wolves, but he could potentially leave Molineux at the end of the current campaign.

The centre-back is out of contract at Wolves at the end of June. As things stand, he would be able to leave the club on a free transfer at this point.

However, it has been reported that the Midlands clubs have offered him a new two-year deal.

Saiss signed a contract extension in the second half of March last term, and Wolves may be hoping that the 60-cap international will commit his future to the club in the latter stages of this season as well.

O’Rourke believes Saiss’ future could be determined by how long Wolves want to keep him for as he will want assurances about being in Bruno Lage’s long-term plans before signing on the dotted line.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT about Saiss, O’Rourke said: “I think it’ll probably come down to the length of contract that he’s offered. He’ll be looking at a decent length of contract to ensure that he stays at Molineux.”

Saiss has made over 200 appearances for Wolves since 2016, proving himself to be a trusted player for multiple managers as he has helped the team return to the Premier League, and then establish themselves in the top half of the table.

During the club’s rise in recent years, Saiss deserves to be recognised as one of Wolves’ most consistent performers.
