Tottenham: Conte 'knows and trusts' 113-cap target

Tottenham target Ivan Perisic is a player who Antonio Conte “knows and trusts”, says transfer insider Pete O’Rourke.

The Inter Milan winger has been heavily linked with a move to north London, with Conte eager to bolster his squad this summer.

Fabrizio Romano recently reported that Inter are set to open talks with Perisic over a new contract in the coming weeks.

This comes after CaughtOffside claimed in February that Tottenham have already offered a deal to the 33-year-old, who will be a free agent at the end of the season.

Perisic could be one of many new arrivals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, as Conte is seemingly hellbent on overhauling his current squad.

According to The Telegraph, the Italian will tell Daniel Levy and director of football Fabio Paratici that he needs possibly up to six new signings for the 2022/23 season.

O’Rourke thinks Perisic on a free transfer is a no-brainer and has told GIVEMESPORT that he is a player that Conte trusts.

Speaking to GMS, the football journalist said: “Perisic has been a real top player for a number of years now. He’s played all across Europe, Germany, Italy and everywhere else. He’s been playing left wing-back for Inter Milan this season and has taken to that role without any issues at all.

“He’s got great experience; Conte knows him from his time at Inter Milan as well, so it’s a player that he knows and trusts.”

He would be a great one. His age may be a concern to some, but once you look past that, it is easy to view Perisic as an attractive signing.

The 113-cap Croatia international can practically play anywhere on the left flank, with Simone Inzaghi mainly using him as a left wing-back this
