Fabrizio Romano: Man United "open to discuss" £58m star's exit with Ten Hag talks planned

Manchester United are ‘open to discuss’ offers for Anthony Martial as they are keen to get the Frenchman off the books at Old Trafford, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

Martial could become the first big-money departure since Erik ten Hag took over as the Red Devils’ new boss at the climax of last season.

Martial is back in the red half of Manchester after spending the second half of the 2021/22 campaign on loan with Spanish side Sevilla.

However, it is understood that Manchester United are open to offloading the striker for as little as £20million before the upcoming season gets underway, meaning they are willing to take a big hit.

That is because the Red Devils forked out an initial fee of £36million – which could rise to £58million – when they bought Martial from Monaco in 2015, making him the most expensive teenager in history.

While Manchester United would like to find a buyer for the 30-cap France international, that is proving to be a struggle and there are growing concerns that he will still be at Old Trafford by the time the transfer window slams shut on September 1.

According to the Manchester Evening News, ‘nobody is breaking the door down’ to sign Martial and ten Hag is facing up to the prospect of reintegrating the 26-year-old into his squad.

Romano understands that Manchester United are hoping to recoup some cash by agreeing to sell Martial.

However, the transfer guru believes the striker is still waiting to hold talks with ten Hag over his future.
