Winter Olympics: Team GB curling pair Dodds and Mouat hold off Aussie fightback for third win of Games

British curling duo Jen Dodds and Bruce Mouat fought off a spirited comeback from Olympic debutants Australia to edge out their latest round-robin match on Friday.

Following a narrow defeat to Switzerland in their preceding contest, the British pairing looked to be cruising to a third win from four matches when they moved into a 6-1 lead.

But Aussie duo Tahli Gill and Dean Hewitt raised their game to close the gap to eight apiece, and force an additional end.

Dodds and Mouat had the hammer and, following an error from Gill with her draw, did not require their final stone of the match for a 9-8 victory.

The top four sides from the round-robin format will battle it out for the medals with Dodds and Mouat marginally deemed the pre-event favourites.

They return to the rink on Saturday to play twice against the Czech Republic before a clash with Italy.
