Winter Olympics gold medalist Jakara Anthony celebrates

Moguls sensation Jakara Anthony has admitted she still hasn't gone to bed after winning Australia's first gold medal at the Winter Olympics in 12 years.

The young Victorian led every round of the women's moguls before saving her best for the final run of the competition to claim gold late Sunday night, four years after she just missed out on being on medal podium.

Anthony, 23, has spent the night celebrating her win and looked bleary-eyed appeared on Sunrise on Monday for a live interview, where it was 5am in Beijing.

'I haven't been to bed yet so it's been a big night,' she sheepishly admitted.

'It was so incredible. It was my childhood dream come true so that it was something so special.'

'I was so lucky to be able to share that with my team there and have everybody back home watching it.'

Her sensational win capped off a great day for Australia hours after Tess Coady won bronze in women's snowboard slopestyle.

It was the first time Australia has won two medals in one day at the Winter Olympics.

Anthony admitted the last few years hadn't been easy in her quest to better her fourth placed finish as a fresh-faced 19-year-old in Pyeongchang in 2018.

She has spent more time focusing on the things she can control rather than getting too far ahead of her herself.

'The last year in particular has been a big focus on developing my mental skills,' Anthony said.

'It's taken a lot of work from myself and my team around me.

'There has been a lot of really tough times but the processes that we have put in place have really shown to come through with the goods and I'm really thankful for all of the time and effort that they put into me and the person and the athlete that they have helped me become.'
