'Winning it all' - Leicester City fans say the same thing after training ground ceremony

Leicester City have officially opened the club's new training ground in Seagrave in a ceremony that took place on Monday.

City have been using the £100m facility since December 2020 after moving out of Belvoir Drive during the 2020/21 season. But the Covid pandemic prevented the complex being officially "opened" until now.

The opening came following the unveiling of a statue of late chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha at the King Power Stadium with the club also being presented two civic honours by Leicester City council. A private celebration was held in the main building at the site with the first team squad and manager Brendan Rodgers as well as chairman Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha in attendance.

A congregation of Buddhist monks were also invited by the family to bless the training ground and bestow good will upon the club’s football operation. It’s not the first time such a blessing has taken place.

The ceremony was followed with the City squad taking part in an afternoon training session as they step up preparations for Thursday night’s Europa Conference League clash vs PSV Eindhoven at the King Power Stadium. A win over the Dutch side would see City take the advantage into next week’s second leg.

Following the news of the official opening and subsequent blessing of the training group, City fans are holding out hope that the ceremony will bring similar success than that of previous ones. City were blessed by Buddhist monks at the start of the 2015/16 season before going onto win the Premier League title at odds of 5000/1.
