Wing options and a pack shake up - Predicted Hull FC team to face Huddersfield Giants

Brett Hodgson will be longing for the day he doesn’t have to make changes to his line-up. The head coach will be forced into alterations once again this weekend against Huddersfield Giants having seen the likes of Joe Cator, Kane Evans and Jamie Shaul drop out of contention.

He has named both Manu Ma’u and Jordan Lane in the squad, though, and they’ll be given the time they need to prove their fitness ahead of the game. With those changes in mind, Hull Live take a look at how the Black and Whites could line-up this week.

There will be a bit of movement in the Hull side this week but most of it will come in the pack, it seems. In the backs, Hodgson has just one decision to make and it looks relatively straightforward with Connor Wynne available to step into the side in place of Shaul.

The switch would more than likely see Mitieli Vulikijapani moved out to the wing, allowing Wynne to play in his preferred centre position. Joe Lovodua and Ben McNamara look set to partner each other in the halves once again.

In a best case scenario both Lane and Ma’u will be fit enough to be involved against Huddersfield, making Hodgson's pack decisions a lot easier. Ligi Sao caught the eye at second-row last time out but Ma’u’s return from a hamstring issue would allow him to return to his natural position through the middle.

Lane, on the other hand, could be set for his first appearance at loose-forward this season should he shake off his back complaint. The 24-year-old started the first four games of the season at second-row but Ma’u’s fitness would probably see him step inside.
