Wimbledon: Serena Williams absent from entry list despite comeback tease

It is looking unlikely that Serena Williams will feature at this year’s Wimbledon Championships despite recently discussing her plans to make her on-court comeback at the All England Club.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion and her sister Venus, as well as Roger Federer, are all absent from the official entry list, which was released on Friday.

Williams also continued to fuel the rumours of her long-awaited return by posting an adorable video of her and daughter Olympia on a tennis court.

Prior to these social media clips, speculation had ramped up over the icon’s potential retirement.

Williams has been chasing a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam title for years now, but time is no longer on her side.

Her last major tournament win came back in 2017 at the Australian Open and since then, she has gradually dipped in form.
