Wimbledon: Nick Kyrgios told to ‘stop moaning’ by spectator after awful challenge
Nick Kyrgios reached the quarter finals of Wimbledon for the first time since 2014 after victory over Brandon Nakashima on Centre Court.
The Australian was much more subdued than he was during his third round clash with Stefanos Tsitsipas, but the match was still a classic.
It went all the way between Kyrgios and the American, with the Aussie eventually getting over the line in the deciding set.
He lost the opening set 6-4, before rattling off the next two sets 6-4 7-6 (7-2). The fourth set was won by Nakashima 6-3 to set up an enthralling climax.
Kyrgios blitzed through the set, winning it 6-2 to make his first Wimbledon quarter final since he reached this stage in 2014 as a 19-yearold wildcard where he stunned us all knocking out Rafael Nadal.
There were fears for the Aussie during the match though, early on he was holding his shoulder and had the physio on court in the second set to massage his shoulder. He took painkillers and managed to continue.
Despite the clash being much more subdued, there were still some examples of the hot head Kyrgios coming out to play.
He made an awful challenge call before going on to blame the umpire for it to which one spectator decided to get involved.
The fan shouted ‘stop moaning’ at the Aussie who surprisingly didn’t bite back and continued with the game after losing and wasting a challenge.
