Will Wright leaves Gillingham for fellow League 2 side Crawley Town on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee
Gillingham defender Will Wright has left the club to join another League 2 side.
With the recent addition of Shad Ogie at Gillingham, Wright’s opportunity of a first-team start at Priestfield has diminished, and he’s decided to leave, joining Crawley Town on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee.
He makes the move to Crawley, agreeing on a one-year deal with an option for a second, heading in the opposite direction to the likes of Glenn Morris, Tom Nichols and Ashley Nadesan who have joined the Gills this year from the West Sussex outfit.
Wright said earlier this summer that he was keen to play a bigger part at Gillingham but with Max Ehmer, Conor Masterson and now Ogie in the squad, he was down the pecking order.
The Gills have also got the likes of Tim Dieng, Robbie McKenzie and Oli Hawkins who can play at centre-half.
