'Will it come true?' - Manchester United fans react to Darwin Nunez transfer links

Manchester United are in need of reinforcements in the summer. The defensive midfield position has been a problem area since last season and appears to be top priority list for the club this transfer window - so who should they target next?

Another midfielder will be needed to replace Paul Pogba and some fans have suggested that the right wing and right-back positions will also need upgrades, but no other position needs a serious revamp more than up front. Cristiano Ronaldo is United's top scorer this season with 18, but even he hasn't been setting the world alight as the club's number nine.

And with Ronaldo now 37 years old, there are doubts that he should be spearheading a project that potential manager Erik ten Hag has said could take up to five years. It is also important to consider as well that the Portuguese forward's contract expires next summer.

There is no doubt that Ronaldo's goals have won United some games they definitely should have lost given their struggles on the pitch, but his all-around game has come under fire. Both under Ralf Rangnick and in the future if Ten Hag is appointed, the striker is expected to link the game and help substantially in the build-up before finding space in the box to score.

This is something that Ronaldo doesn't do and at 37 he is unlikely to change, but one of the issues for United is they lack any other options. Marcus Rashford is out of form and prefers to be deployed out on the wing and Edinson Cavani's recurring problems with injury which have seen him miss countless fixtures are well documented.
