Will Fish seals Hibs transfer return but Man United loan agreement includes review option

Will Fish has returned to Hibs for a second loan spell.

The Manchester United defender spent last season on loan at Easter Road from Manchester United. Despite a shaky start, the 20-year-old grew into a consistent performer for the Hibees, netting himself three goals in 16 appearances as the capital club finished fifth to secure a spot in the second qualifying round of the Europa Conference League. They take on Inter Club d'Escaldes in Andorra on Thursday night.

While Fish has signed on until the end of the 2023/24 campaign, the agreement with United includes a "review" in January. If Fish fails to nail down a regular starting spot, gets injured or United feel they want to send him elsewhere, then he could return to Old Trafford in the New Year. But for now, Lee Johnson is delighted to finally bring Fish back after a few weeks of waiting for him to complete his pre-season commitments with the Red devils before returning to Edinburgh.

The manager said: “We’re delighted to get this deal over the line and bring Will back to the club. During his first season with us he showed that he is a player with real quality, and he adds composure and consistency to our back-line. Everyone at the club is looking forward to working with Will again and having him around the building.”
