The next couple of months will be pivotal to Everton’s hopes of enjoying some form of success this season.

Rafa Benitez’s sacking means that the Blues are searching for a new manager, with Duncan Ferguson currently in caretaker charge.

A host of names have been linked with the job, including Vitor Pereira, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney.

Everton are not back in Premier League action until February 8 when they travel to face Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

The Blues are currently 16th in the league table, four points above the relegation zone but have played a game or two less than the teams around them.

After travelling to Tyneside, Everton will also face away trips to Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham before the next hiatus.

On top of that, the Blues will also welcome Leeds United, Manchester City and Wolves before the next international break.

By the time Everton are next in action, the hope will be that a new permanent manager is in place for the remainder of the season.
