'Why would we?' - Manchester United fans split on Noam Emeran transfer decision
Manchester United supporters have given a mixed reaction to the update on Noam Emeran’s future at the club.
The 20-year-old forward is yet to make a senior appearance for the club but impressed during pre-season, scoring against Leeds United in Oslo. United fought off competition from PSG and Juventus for his signature in 2019 but Emeran is now set to enter a new stage in his career.
The Manchester Evening News understands United have agreed to sell Emeran to Dutch side FC Groningen as he searches for first team football. The deal is understood to include a sell-on clause which would give the Reds another opportunity to reap some rewards if he succeeds in the Eredivisie.

Emeran is believed to have been the subject of loan interest but a permanent switch was considered to be more beneficial and continues a theme of United’s transfer business this summer. The club have opted to cash in on several academy prospects, rather than sanction loan deals, with Zidane Iqbal, Matej Kovar and Charlie Savage among those to bid farewell to Old Trafford.
While some supporters are in favour of the club looking to shift out youngsters, with the caveats of sell-on and other potential clauses, another section of United fans are irate at the decision not to give youthful prospects, like Emeran, opportunities in the senior side.
