Why Scott McTominay 'stands out' at Napoli as adoring skipper reveals what has impressed him the most

Scott McTominay could not have got off to a better start in Italy, and the plaudits keep on coming for the new Napoli star.

The Scotland midfielder took a bit of a leap of faith when he swapped Manchester United for the south of Italy in a £25.7million deal last summer, but has wasted no time in establishing himself as one of boss Antonio Conte's key lieutenants and a firm favourite with the club's fanatical supporters. The 28-year-old has hit six goals in his first 22 Serie A matches to help spearhead Gli Azzurri's title charge, with Conte's team currently two points ahead of reigning champions Inter at the league summit with 13 games remaining.

McTominay has already won rave reviews from several top pundits and former players in Italy and has even been compared to legendary Roma icon Falcao. And in another appraisal, the Scotland star's teammate and Napoli skipper Giovanni Di Lorenzo has detailed just how much of an impact the all-action midfielder has had on the Naples club.

In an interview with DAZN, he said: "McTominay has had a major impact. We knew he was strong, to be at United you have to have great qualities, but the thing that impressed me is the impact he has had on the reality of Naples, but I'm talking about all the new arrivals, even guys who play less like (Billy) Gilmour.

"Scott is the one who stands out the most, but there are many players who have just arrived who are making an important contribution to the team. We are happy with their arrivals and we know they are on our side".
