Why Rangers aren't REAL challengers to Celtic as Neil McCann tells them it's time to stop flunking acid test

Neil McCann doesn't see Rangers as REAL challengers to Celtic given their lack of meaningful wins against their rivals.

Philippe Clement takes his team across Glasgow next Sunday in search of his first derby triumph. The last time the Light Blues came out on top against the Hoops, Ange Postecoglou had already won the title and an end-of-season 3-0 win for Michael Beale's side was of little consequence.

The transfer window closes less than 48 hours before kick-off on derby day so there is still an element of unknown about both teams. But McCann has warned his former club that they can't be taken seriously as a threat to Celtic's Premiership crown until they can produce the goods when it matters on derby day. "I think both will make additions to the group but Celtic are in a real position of strength," said the Sportscene pundit. "Rangers are absolutely behind them in a number of levels.

Celtic have clicked into top gear when Philippe Clement is probably still trying to find his best XI. He;s chopped and changed a lot and there's still question marks over the new signings and the fitness of others.

"Going to Celtic Park is going to be difficult. They absolutely cruised Saturday against Ross County. Ross County were poor but they (Rangers) were brilliant. Everything worked perfectly.

"Going to Celtic Park is a different animal and this is the acid test. They've not won a meaningful game against Celtic - it's time they did that. Then they can consider themselves real challengers. But I do make Celtic strong favourites."
