Why Ollie Watkins shouted at Douglas Luiz as Steven Gerrard lauds star with 'big future'

It was a point that stopped the rot for Aston Villa with Steven Gerrard commending his side's organisation and defensive shift at Leicester. Villa also had by far the better of the chances at the King Power Stadium with Leon Bailey, Ollie Watkins and Tyrone Mings all spurning efforts when well-placed.

A pertinent point Gerrard made was how he wants more points on the road, and referenced Villa's narrow setbacks to Brentford and Newcastle back in January and February.

"I crave more of these," Gerrard said of Villa's 0-0 draw, "if you can't win, in this league, it's important you take something away because these points improve your league position come the end of (the season).

"If I look at Newcastle away, Brentford away, if I look at other situations, we could have been four or five points better off by defending like we did today and that's a positive and a base for us to go into the Norwich game.

"The Norwich game will be different. The onus will be on us to go and create and open the door, I'm sure it will. It's critical we go into that with the right mentality and attitude because those three points are vitally important."

He added: "Off the back of four defeats, this was a really tough game for us. You're not given anything here, you've got to earn it."
