Why Manchester United have gained an advantage on top four rivals after January transfer window

Manchester United fans have been told not to fear the race for the top four despite lack of activity in the January transfer window.

The battle for the Champions League places is hotting up as the Reds, West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are all within touching distance of the all-important fourth spot.

United's January was dominated by outgoings ahead of what could be a busy summer in terms of additions at Old Trafford, whilst those around them added a few, lost a couple or didn't utilise the window at all.

"I have to look at the [Man Utd] fans and you have to say they are going to be disappointed.," former right-back Paul Parker told Bonus Code Bets.

"You look at Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham, and at the moment, the fourth spot is quite open cause no one, when you look on paper, has done anything significant.

"Tottenham, have they done anything exciting, no, they've added two players [from Serie A]. Arsenal have weakened in certain ways."

"West Ham haven't strengthened, they greatly needed to go out and do something, they haven't done it. That's gonna cause thunderstorms. That's gonna cause big problems at West Ham now, without a doubt."

"Man Utd have lost players, but I think they're players who needed to go."

"United have put themselves in the limelight now and will be judged by every game about what's going to happen at the end of the season."
