Why Harry Styles is at Luton Town vs Manchester United

Pop sensation Harry Styles has surprised many this Sunday afternoon with his attendance at Manchester United's away clash against Luton Town in the Premier League.

The former One Direction singer popped into the Sky Sports Super Sunday studio at Kenilworth Road before the second half began between Sheffield United and Brighton and Hove Albion. Host David Jones joked 'he had never seen Jamie Redknapp move so fast' as the panel grabbed a selfie with the former X-Factor contestant.

However, the question remains as to why Styles has chosen to attend the Premier League encounter this afternoon. MEN Sport has attempted to work out the answer to this question.

While not being as outspoken a football fan as his former bandmate Louis Tomlinson who played for Doncaster Rovers, Styles did play the sport before finding fame in music. Growing up, the 30-year-old was a United fan and it is understood he would often wear a replica shirt during the early years of One Direction.

It is likely Styles has chosen to attend this game as it is close to his North London home. These days the singer splits his time between the USA and the UK.

During an interview with Female First in 2013, Styles expressed his admiration for United legend David Beckham. Attending the premiere of 'The Class of '92', he said: "Absolutely David is inspiring.

"He’s a legend. This film is amazing because it’s the team I grew up watching."

Should United be victorious this afternoon, they will move back to within five points of the top four and just three points behind fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who lost on Saturday.
