Why Garnacho, Mainoo and Hojlund aren't in confirmed Manchester United Premier League squad
Manchester United have confirmed their Premier League squad for the remainder of the season.
The Reds have submitted a list of 21 players to pick from with the remainder made from those on the Under-21 list. It means the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojliund are not part of the senior selection given their age.
The likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo also do not need to be included with each club's registered Under-21 players eligible regardless. Premier League clubs have had to submit their squad lists following the conclusion of the January transfer window with a maximum of 25 named in the official list, of which 17 can be non-'homegrown'. United have eight classed as homegrown and in theory could add four free agents to their squad.

The notable absentees include three players who departed during the winter window. Jadon Sancho, Donny van de Beek and Sergio Reguillon all left for differing reasons.
Sancho fell out with Erik ten Hag and is now on loan with former club Borussia Dortmund while Van de Beek also agreed a temporary switch to the Bundesliga, joining Eintracht Frankfurt. Tottenham Hotspur loanee Sergio Reguilon left after a break clause in his deal was activated. He has since joined Brentford for the remainder of the season.
United's Premier League squad list: Sofyan Amrabat, Altay Bayindir, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Diogo Dalot, Antony, Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans, Tom Heaton, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire. Tyrell Malacia, Anthony Martial, Lisandro Martinez, Scott McTominay, Mason Mount, Andre Onana, Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
