Why Bruno Fernandes won't be happy with Manchester United's latest transfer decision

Bruno Fernandes may have been as disappointed as most Manchester United fans to learn that his club plan to sell James Garner.

The decision has sparked anger amongst supporters, who were already furious after Saturday’s 4-0 drubbing by Brentford. United are in dire need of a central midfielder amid a lack of depth.

Fans are worried that the club could be in a more desperate situation if Garner departs and the Reds fail to bring in Frenkie de Jong or any other top-tier reinforcement. And it looks as though Fernandes will also be sad to see Garner go.

Back in April, during a Twitter Q&A, the 27-year-old was asked by a supporter which academy product he was most looking forward to playing alongside. “James Garner,” he replied.

This was eight weeks before Garner had sealed promotion to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest via the play-offs, but Fernandes had clearly already been impressed by his excellent form. Garner played a pivotal role in Forest's campaign and many thought he would be in for a shout of the United first team this season.

The club seemingly does not concur and are to show him the door despite solid pre-season outings following his summer injury setback. There had been interest around the 21-year-old before the decision, which has already ramped up since the news broke.
