Who is Rebekah Vardy? Famous footballer husband, Coleen legal battle and Jehovah's Witness upbringing

Rebekah Vardy has spoken out about her experiences growing up as a Jehovah’s Witness in a new Channel 4 documentary.

The WAG says she was shunned by the community - a Christian denomination which believes the destruction of the world is imminent -after her parents’ divorce. In the film, she also alleges she was sexually abused by someone in the community between the ages of 11 and 15, which she says was covered up by “elders” – senior male religious leaders.

The TV personality, who is married to Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, is perhaps best known for her infamous legal battle with Coleen Rooney, dubbed 'Wagatha Christie.' Rebekah lost a sensational courtroom battle last summer over explosive claims she was leaking stories about Coleen to the press.

Rebekah, 41, denied leaking stories to the media and sued Coleen for libel, while Coleen defended the claim on the basis that her post was "substantially true." The judge ruled in Coleen's favour, dismissing Rebekah's claim against her.

The court case was eventually turned into a two-part drama series, which aired on Channel 4 last summer and starred Michael Sheen as Coleen's lawyer. The courtroom antics also saw the wives' footballer husbands Jamie Vardy and Wayne Rooney attend proceedings.

Rebekah, who grew up in Norwich, met Jamie in 2014 when she was working as a nightclub promoter. The couple married
