Who is Anthony Barry? The coach taking Bayern Munich team vs Manchester United in Champions League

Thomas Tuchel will be a notable absentee from the Bayern Munich dugout for the impending Champions League showdown with Manchester United at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.

The former Chelsea manager will serve a one-game touchline ban for that Group A opener in Bavaria after he was sent-off against Manchester City in the marquee European competition last season. It means the German will have to watch from the stands as Bayern commence their push for yet another Champions League trophy.

Bayern have conquered Europe six times before in its current and former guise. They are fancied to go a long way this campaign, too, after City sent the Bundesliga side packing in the quarter-finals last term.

Tuchel will not be allowed in the dugout. However, the 50-year-old tactician, who replaced Julian Nagelsmann in the top job at Bayern last season, will be able to direct his players in the changing room before the Group A game and at half-time, while he's also allowed to communicate with staff members.

In his absence from the side-lines, the German champions will be led by assistant coaches, Zsolt Low and Anthony Barry, on Wednesday night. Barry has connections to the north west in footballing circles.

Manchester United are back in the Champions League after an impressive first season in charge for Erik ten Hag.

Having won the famous trophy three times, the Reds have a wonderful history in the European Cup. Now the Dutchman has to live up to that legacy.
