Married At First Sight UK viewers cringe as groom makes bold declaration during wedding vows

Married At First Sight UK kicked off on E4 last night (Monday September 18) - and one groom's controversial vows got viewers talking.

The experimental dating show sees partners matched by experts meet at the altar for the first time. They embark on married life from the moment they say 'I do.'

Making a first impression is nerve-wracking enough - let alone on your wedding day, in front of your new partner's family and friends. Tennis coach Arthur Poremba tied the knot with finance manager Laura Vaughan in the show's opening episode.

But his vows - and his approach to writing them - left viewers cringing. Before the ceremony, Arthur admitted to his pals that he'd got his wedding vows off the internet.

After reading out the printed-off speech to his wife in front of their nearest and dearest, it left a lasting impression with the guests, who started to chat at the reception. And it was Arthur's decision to tell his new wife, 'I love you' at the altar that really fell flat.

Taking to Twitter, MAFS UK viewers couldn't believe the groom had uttered the three special words to Laura. @3PMSLadies said: "When Arthur said 'I love you' I almost DIED #MAFSUK" while @Hannahbelle24 said: "I love you…. Read the room Arthur... Poor kid".
