Whitstable Town thrash Rusthall 5-0 in top-three Southern Counties East League Premier Division game; Chislehurst Glebe, Erith & Belvedere, Corinthian and Holmesdale all victorious

Braces from Harvey Kedwell and top scorer Javaun Splatt helped leaders Whitstable bounce back from FA Vase final-16 penalty shootout heartache with a big league win over Rusthall on Saturday.

In a top-three Southern Counties East League Premier Division game, a goal by midfielder Kedwell - the son of ex-Ashford boss Danny Kedwell - and 22-goal Splatt’s latest double put Jamie Coyle’s Oystermen into a 3-0 half-time advantage.

Attacking midfielder Bradley Schafer got Whitstable’s fourth in the 56th minute and Kedwell completed the scoring with his second, two minutes later, as it finished 5-0 in front of a 611-strong crowd at The Belmont.

They are now 14 points clear of second-placed Larkfield & New Hythe, who lost 5-2 at Chislehurst Glebe.

Striker Jamie Philpot was a hat-trick hero, with substitute Khavarn Williams also getting two goals for the home team.

Basement boys Hythe were beaten 3-0 at home by Erith & Belvedere as Thomas Borders bagged a hat-trick, including two after the interval, for the away team.

Corinthian claimed a 2-1 victory at Sutton Athletic.

Captain Jamie Billings’ first-half goal and a penalty by midfielder Oscar Housego left substitute Enoch Muwonge’s injury-time effort a mere consolation.

Kennington suffered a 2-1 loss at Holmesdale.

They trailed to Ali Mansaray’s ninth-minute goal and, although Kimsley Gatakata promptly got Ton level, Ramone Lewis got the all-important third goal of the game in the 37th minute.

The other scheduled weekend matches weren’t able to go ahead following adverse weather in recent days.
