Whitstable Town manager Jamie Coyle confident fit-again forward Nathan Jeche, 20, will further strengthen free-scoring side’s options ahead of Fisher away match

Free-scoring Whitstable are confident the return of one of their FA Vase heroes will further strengthen the club’s attacking options.

One-time QPR forward Nathan Jeche, formerly of Maidstone and Cray Wanderers, has been out since the Oystermen’s memorable Wembley win in May because of a serious knee injury.

The 20-year-old is fit now, though, and aiming to rediscover the form that saw him have a huge impact in the Oystermen’s season run-in on their way to their Vase victory last term.

Manager Jamie Coyle lives near to Jeche and says he will come into contention for this weekend’s journey to Fisher.

He said: “He’s completely different to what we have got.

“I was sitting in the cafe I go to on Monday and he ran past me… I don’t think he knew I was there!

"He’s working so hard away from football to get to where he was last year.

“He’s going to be a completely different animal to what we have had this season. He comes into contention for Saturday.

“There’s already in-house banter he will catch-up with those who have already scored 11 or 12 goals this season.

“That’s without him playing a game yet! Hopefully, come the end of this season, we will have converted a lot more chances than we did last season.

“If we manage that, we’ll be in a good place.”

Even prior to Jeche’s comeback, Whitstable had racked up 11 goals in their last three Southern Counties East League Premier Division fixtures, securing a 5-0 win against Holmesdale in their first league game at The Belmont in more than a month.

Veteran midfielder Joe Healy bagged a brace, with substitute Dean Grant’s own double being sandwiched by a goal from fellow striker Javaun Splatt.
