Whitstable Town boss Jamie Coyle says club faces potentially huge week as they close in on title with three games in six-day spell

Whitstable boss Jamie Coyle knows it could be a potentially huge week for the club.

The Oystermen are due to play three matches in a six-day period as they close in on the title.

Whitstable visit FA Vase semi-finalists Punjab United tonight and then welcome lowly Chislehurst Glebe to The Belmont this weekend.

They are also due to visit play-off chasing Rusthall on Tuesday night.

If they win those matches or results elsewhere go in their favour, they could be crowned Southern Counties East League Premier Division champions at The Jockey Farm.

Coyle said: “It’s a huge week for us and everyone involved in the club.

“I know every manager says it, and it’s a cliche, but we’re trying to work game to game. We have done that so far.

“It’s going to be a really tough game on Wednesday against a team that are flying in the Vase and still have aspirations of finishing in the play-off places.

“The players are an experienced bunch, they know the next three games are going to be really important.

“I’m a proud manager at the moment in terms of what the players are delivering. We’re finding ways to win, even when we’re not at our best.

“We have got a tough game on Wednesday. We will prepare for that as best we can - and then we’ll get ready for the weekend.

“We’re definitely looking forward to the next three games.”

Coyle intends to rotate his pack as best he can.

They head into the hectic spell after experienced campaigners Joe Healy and Dean Grant came off the substitutes’ bench to both score in stoppage time of last weekend’s 2-1 home triumph against Erith & Belvedere.

“Deano, his goals-to-start ratio this year has been absolutely phenomenal,” he said.
