White not concerned by lack of Bulls at Bok camp: They have a settled squad

Bulls director of rugby Jake White said he's not concerned with the low number of Bulls players who will be part of the coming week's Springbok alignment camp.

Injured pivot Johan Goosen and forwards Elrigh Louw, Johan Grobbelaar and Ruan Nortje are the four Bulls players who will be part of the Bok alignment camp.

For a Bulls side, that's been the best of the South African lot, it does sound like a very low number, but White, a former Rugby World Cup-winning coach said the Bok management doesn't have a lot of time to change things ahead of next year's showpiece in France.

"I've worn the green tracksuit and sat in front of the media, so it's not my job to decide who plays for South Africa," White said.

"They're world champions. They have a settled squad, so I don't think you can read too much into it.

"They have a year and a half to go to the World Cup, so they'll have a few guys who have been around, so you can't read too much into the alignment camps.

"There's still a lot to be done between now and the World Cup and I don't see the need of changing something that's working."

Goosen has been out since October last year with an anterior cruciate ligament injury and while that's kept him out, he's doubled up as a kicking coach.

He's played 13 Tests spread over four years, with his last being the 27-13 loss to Wales in Cardiff in 2016.

"I'm not going to push Goosen into a rushed comeback when he's not ready and I don't think he'll be ready before November for the Boks," White said.

"I think we'll have three months off and he won't be doing much, so I'll make sure that he's ready for that November Test session if he's chosen.
