Where you can take your unwanted items after Christmas clearouts
After the Christmas rush, many of us are anxious to get rid of old and unwanted items cluttering up our space. A Manchester-based charity has asked people to consider donating unwanted goods instead of throwing them away this Christmas.
Mustard Tree, who aim to combat poverty and homelessness across the region, told the Manchester Evening News they are always looking for clothing, white goods, and furniture. The cut price items are then sold in their shop or given away to those in need.
They can even arrange collection for some goods, meaning if you have something heavy or large to give away, you may not even need to leave your house.
"You can book a free collection if you are donating large items such as furniture and white goods," the charity's website reads. "They will be made available at very affordable prices in our community shops, or gifted to help furnish a new tenancy.
"All we ask is that items are in good condition and are clean. Any items with upholstery (i.e. sofas, mattresses, headboards) require a fire label to be attached."
Items that can be collected are:
Alternatively, you can drop off unwanted goods at Mustard Tree's hubs in Ancoats, Eccles, and Little Hulton. Items you can drop off are:
