When is World Snooker Championship 2022 draw? How to watch it and full schedule

The World Snooker Championship 2022 kicks off on Saturday at the iconic Crucible Theatre in Sheffield with Leicester's top seed and defending champion Mark Selby seeking a fifth title. Ronnie O'Sullivan is also set for an appearance as he seeks to equal Stephen Hendry's seven world titles.

Previous winners Mark Williams, John Higgins, Judd Trump and Neil Robertson will also be at the tournament to challenge Selby, who won three times in four years between 2014 and 2017 before claiming the title once more last year in 2021. The action gets underway on Saturday 16 April.

There are 16 players who will have to qualify on Wednesday, joining the other 16 top seeds at the tournament, with the draw taking place on Thursday 14 April at 11am BST. Matches will run from Saturday 16 April until Sunday 2 May, with the final taking place over the last weekend.

Quarter Finals: Best of 25 frames

Semi-Finals: Best of 33 frames

Final: Best of 35 frames

The winner will take home £500,000 with £200,000 going to the runner up while players beaten in the first round will earn £20,000.

There is £15,000 on offer for the highest televised break and £40,000 for a 147 maximum break.
