When every Celtic player's contract expires as 7 stars in 'class of 2025' give Brendan Rodgers food for thought

It's exciting times at Celtic as the second Brendan Rodgers era begins to take serious shape.

The returning boss has made five new signings already with South Korean duo Hyeok-kyu Kwon and Hyun-jun Yang the latest deals to be announced. But new contracts to tie the existing squad down have been just as important as the new arrivals. Skipper Callum McGregor and key Japanese duo Kyogo and Daizen Maeda have all jumped in at the deep end with long-term deals and it's widely expected more will be announced with the dawn of the league season upon us.

The club kept that wave of contract announcements close to their chest but a quick glance at the state of play gives us a hint at who could be next. Carl Starfelt and Greg Taylor are among the key men in the class of 2025 whose deals expire in two years' time and they will be high on the agenda. Celtic have been proactive so far and will be keen to get ahead of a potential headache in 12 months time.

David Turnbull though may be the top priority. As things stand he is a free agent from 2024 and if he can't force his way into Rodgers' starting plans then a move away now is logical with the squad well-stacked in midfield.

Less pertinent will be Reo Hatate and Cameron Carter-Vickers who are tied down until 2026. However both McGregor and Maeda had three years to run when they were handed their lucrative new contracts with the club not shy in rewarding impressive form.

2025: James McCarthy, James Forrest, Carl Starfelt, Greg Taylor, Anthony Ralston, Stephen Welsh, Liam Scales

2026: Benjamin Siegrist, Mikey Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Matt O'Riley, Reo Hatate, Liel Abada

2027: Kyogo, Sead Haksabanovic,
